How to make an applique onesie (using transfer paper for printers)

I have had many people ask for this tutorial, so here we go!

Supplies:

*transfer paper (I used avery brand)
*onesie or shirt
*printer
*scissors
*iron
*computer

I like this transfer paper the best. The light works for light colors such as white or pink or light blue. Use the dark one for black and other dark colors.

The supplies you will need. Computer (to type up words and put pictures in a word document.), onesies, printer, and transfer paper.

You will notice everything is backwards. This is tricky. For pictures, flip horizontally. For words, you have to type them into PAINT, save as an image, import the image into your word document, and flip horizontally.

Cut out each word, phrase, and picture. Leave a SMALL border around each.

I organized mine into piles so I know which goes to which onesie

Lay your onesie on a hard surface (I used the table) and put a piece of fabric under it.

Follow the directions for your transfer paper (mine said to put the iron on NO STEAM at the highest cotton setting---for mine it was 4)

Lay out your words and pictures how you want them arranged. It really helps to print the words on regular paper first to make sure everything will fit.

For the first few passes (to make sure the letters didn't move) I put another onesie on top and pressed the iron down.

They were stuck just enough to NOT move

Press down onto the letters VERY firmly but DO NOT move the iron around!! It moves the letters, so just press the iron down, pick up, and press again

After the garment has COOLED, begin to peel off the paper backing! It does give a little resistance, so be prepared and pull accordingly

All the paper is off!!
